5 Quick & Easy Ways to Shift Your Energy

  1. Music is one of the most powerful forces of energy. It has the ability to lift us up, travel back in time, put us to sleep, pump us up or calm us down. Music connects us to each other and our emotions. I grew up in a very musical home. For me, music is my go-to. We can create playlists to match just about any emotion we may be feeling. Music can lift us out of depression or move us to tears. It has the power to heal – to change you. “You know what music is?   2. Nature is another powerful form of therapy & healing in and of itself. Being in nature is restorative to the spirit. It takes us away from the material and the ego and brings us back to a grounded state. Getting outside connects us to the Earth and reminds us how vast the universe is. I cherish my time spent on the beach, my long morning walks and hikes in the woods. But we don’t always have time for that when we need it. Even a short walk to the mailbox can do the trick. Walk the pup, pop the kids in the stroller, look up at the moon. At work? Take a 5 minute stroll outside your building. The point is to get some fresh air and re-energize your spirit.   3. Do something for someone else. When we put ourselves in a position of service, we humble ourselves and quiet our ego which connects us closer to God and our higher selves. One of my favorite quotes is Always stay humble & kind. It’s in the act of giving that we are serving the Universe which then serves us. Ask yourself – How can I serve someone else?   4. Breathe – Every breath you take. Throughout our day we may experience low vibe moments of stress, anger or irritability and not have access to much else than our breath. Taking 3 cleansing breaths will give a noticeable shift to your energy. Inhale deeply through your nose for 3 counts – hold for 3 counts – exhale out your mouth for 3. Repeat for a total of 3 rounds. Allow the oxygen to clear your mind and fill your lungs. Release all negative energy with each exhale. You’ll feel your vibrancy expand and lift.   5. Play. Being playful raises our vibe. It makes us smile and feel happy. The dictionary defines play as; engaging in activity for enjoyment and recreation rather than a serious or practical purpose. It already sounds fun! If you’re in need of a quick energy shift, set your work aside momentarily for a few minutes of play. Send a playful text to a friend or partner, toss the ball with your dog, get down on the floor with your kids. Even 5-10 minutes of play can dramatically effect your mood.
